I have always been a writer. And, if you’ve come to my website, that’s probably what you’re looking for!
Over the years, I’ve had some interesting jobs — journalist, travel agent, sales rep, even an apple picker — but I was still a writer. I used this skill to help companies and friends, and continued to learn as much about writing as I could.
I also learned that not everyone shares this passion, which is why I started Caspers Copywriting — to help others, like you, harness the power of the written word.
Here are a few more things to know about me:
1. I am an Experienced Writer
I wrote my first story when I was four years old about my family’s ski trip to Colorado — complete with stick-figure illustrations.
My parents bound it in cardboard and entered it into the Illinois Young Authors’ Contest. I didn’t win, but I fell in love with writing and storytelling. I have been honing my craft ever since.
Since then, I’ve:
- Won the Young Author’s Contest (in grade 5)
- Earned a journalism degree (with a minor in English)
- Written for four newspapers
- Edited for a newspaper
- Founded a travel blog, which I still maintain
- Worked as a bid writer
- Completed multiple non-fiction courses at the Australian Writers’ Centre and the Australian School of Copywriting
- Worked as a copywriter.
I have experience writing:
- News stories, opinion columns and press releases
- Grant applications, bid proposals and tender responses
- Business, strategy and marketing reports
- CEO and Board briefs
- Award applications
- Business blog, social media posts and LinkedIn profiles
- Newsletters, eDMs, brochures and flyers
- Profiles and case studies
- Website content, SEO and travel blogs.
My diverse experience means I can adapt my writing to suit your needs and speak to different audiences.
2. I am an Avid Skier and Traveller
Writing isn’t the only activity I’ve done most of my life. Family ski trips — like the one that inspired that first story — sparked lifelong passions for skiing and travel. I haven’t missed a year on my skis since I was three and have explored slopes in nine countries.
A break from journalism to travel turned another passion into a career. I’ve travelled to 35 countries and spent 20 years in tourism, working as a resort supervisor, travel agent, airline sales executive and business development manager. I organised events and familiarisation tours, participated in travel and trade exhibitions, and worked with sales teams to secure major conventions to Adelaide.
As a traveller, I am naturally curious. I have lived and worked in different countries and worked with people from all over the world. This, combined with my sales experience, means I understand what attracts and engages people — a skill I bring to your content.
3. I Have Business and Sales Experience
With 20 years in tourism, I’ve led business strategy, managed teams, and developed sales and marketing plans. I’ve hired, coached and led teams of various sizes.
This hands-on experience means I understand the challenges of running a business and the importance of effective communication. I understand how important copy and content (internal and external) are to your business strategy.
4. I am a Lifelong Learner
Basically, I’m a nerd. I love to learn new things and enjoy research. My curiosity has led me to complete courses in website design, SEO, copywriting, travel writing, freelance writing, WordPress and Google Analytics. I enjoy reading books about grammar and the evolution of English.
That curiosity means I’ll take the time to understand your industry, ensuring your message is clear and effective. And, you get to take advantage of the learning I’ve already done!
5. I Care About Community
Working in tourism showed me the positive impact the industry and organisations can have on communities. I’ve seen how local economies benefit from tourism and how non-profits change lives.
I love working with organisations that make a difference. I care about the work your small business or non-profit does and the part it plays in your community. I would love to help you tell that story.
Now that you know a bit about me, I’d love to learn a bit about you.
